Our Leadership Services

We work in collaboration with school leaders to listen, observe, research, and develop recommendations for leadership and instruction that lead to student success. Our team of collegial educators will work with your team to customize a plan of action, share recommendations with stakeholders (boards, community partners, families, etc.), and coach district leaders to meet the unique needs of your organization.

These consultation/coaching services include the following leadership supports:

Onsite/Remote Administrative Services

Our team of administrators includes highly recognized leaders in the field of special education. Our experienced executives will work with you to develop a leadership plan that includes administrator coaching, policy and procedure development, temporary onsite departmental leadership, or a combination of onsite and remote leadership that will allow your special education programs to progress and excel.

Program Reviews

Our district/school program reviews include stakeholder interviews, program observations, study of best practices and recommendations for program enhancement.

Principal Academy

This one-year professional development cohort group will study, collaborate and train school administrators and building leaders in special education. No one special education leader can attend all conferences, provide direction in classrooms, complete teacher evaluations and maintain the integrity of the special education process. This twelve (12) month leadership cohort group will transform your building leaders into certified special education administrators that feel confident to lead staff, develop new teachers, handle legal issues before they grow into legal disputes, and manage the entire special education process for each of your schools. The group will explore everything from the principles of IDEA to special education law, best practices, student-specific planning, and more. The cohort group meets monthly and can be hosted locally in your district to make it easy for your team to attend.

Data Disaggregation

Time for departmental data reviews, strategic thinking, and backward planning towards educator goals usually gets left behind. Our team of leaders can disaggregate data (i.e. Statewide testing scores, school benchmarks, universal screening data, disciplinary data), provide facilitation of teams to set and achieve goals to keep the “bus” moving forward.

Due Process/Mediation Services

We understand that even with a highly successful leader there are times when families and educators are not on the same page. Our leaders use facilitation skills that work parallel with counseling experience to advocate for student progress, collaboration, and progress towards agreed-upon team goals.

State/Federal Compliance

Our team of veteran special education directors has more than 100 years of experience improving local districts’ performance on state/federal compliance indicators. Our team will collaborate with your team to not only become compliant but to develop model programs in the following areas - disproportionality, diversity, transition services, student academic performance/growth (PreK – 22), inclusion, Least Restrictive Environment, graduation rate, and parental participation in programming.

Strategic Planning

Our diverse team of leaders is experienced at developing strategic plans that align with state, school board, and district goals. Once plans are developed our team collaborates with district leadership to create an implementation plan and timeline that will include community/staff motivational and informational meetings, professional development, and team member coaching.

Administrative/Instructional Coaching

Our leadership team can provide highly effective administrative and instructional coaching services in-person and/or remotely. We work as a leadership team to support local administrators and teachers by helping make team decisions while at the same time developing a long-term district decision-making model that will improve administrator leadership for years to come.

Alternative (non-diploma) Curriculum Development

GSEA helps teachers to “un-wrap” and develop general standards into classroom lessons to promote unified programming for students with severe cognitive disabilities.  The inclusion of students with severe disabilities requires curriculum development and instructional talents that are unique to maintaining an inclusive environment.

Program Reviews

Our district/school program reviews include stakeholder interviews, classroom observations, data/assessment reviews, parent surveys, and a study of best practices to provide recommendations for program enhancement.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

MTSS is a systematic framework for prevention and early intervention which involves assessing whether all students are learning and progressing adequately when provided with high-quality instruction and evidence-based interventions. Our training builds awareness and provides guidance on how to implement the framework with fidelity. GSEA also facilitates monthly MTSS meetings for those schools that prefer to utilize our expertise.

Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)

Proactive classroom behavior management provides many opportunities for praise, pre-teaching, and skill development. School-wide and classroom PBIS programs are necessary to create a positive culture and to develop research-based interventions for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).

New Teacher Academy

The New Teacher Academy is for first, second, and even third-year teachers who will instruct students that have special needs. The cohort explores and trains teachers in all facets of special education, culture-building, classroom management, and developing teacher leaders. This twelve (12) month leadership cohort group will explore everything from the ABCs of special education, IIEP understanding, case conference planning, studying data-driven student interventions, and much, much more. The cohort group meets monthly which makes it easy for your team members to attend.

Special Education Leadership Academy for Administrators

GSEA provides a one-year professional development cohort group that studies, collaborates, and trains school administrators and building leaders in special education. This twelve (12) month leadership cohort group will transform your building leaders into certified special education administrators that feel confident to lead staff, develop new teachers, handle legal issues before they grow into legal disputes, and manage the entire special education process for each of your schools. The cohort group meets monthly outside of the school day.

Co-Teaching Instruction

Creating a unified classroom starts with the training of staff on the differentiation of instruction, checking for understanding, and teaching in tandem. “Co-teaching that Works” gives several co-teaching models that will align with your district’s philosophy on classroom instruction.

Classroom Behavior Management

Classroom management requires structures, frameworks, and procedures that are proven to be successful for student independence, behavior management, and classroom success. Our team of leaders provides practical solutions to student motivation and support in behavior management.

Diversity/Implicit Bias Trainings

In order to effectively support all students, school staff must develop awareness about the influence of culture on learning and behavior and understand the impact that implicit biases can have on their perspectives of students and their behavior. Our implicit-bias training is designed to support educators in gaining awareness of the ways in which implicit biases can impact educational outcomes and obtain strategies for reducing these biases.
